About VitaMath
VitaMath is a fitness calculator site built for people who want the actual math, not just a number. Every calculator uses a peer-reviewed formula, shows you how the result was computed, and cites the source study — no signup required, no paywalls, no ads.
Why we built it
Most fitness calculator sites bury the calculator under an 800-word intro you have to scroll past. Others show the result but never the formula. Some gate the good stuff behind a login. VitaMath puts the calculator first. The formula and its citation appear directly below the result so you can verify the math yourself.
What we care about
- Accuracy. Every formula comes from a peer-reviewed source. We cite it on the calculator page.
- Transparency. We show the math. You can see exactly how your result was calculated, not just that it was.
- Speed. Calculators load instantly. No interstitials, no login walls, no waiting.
- Privacy. Your inputs stay in your browser. We never see the numbers you enter.
The calculators
- BMI — body mass index using the WHO classification and the Quetelet/Keys formula.
- Body Fat % — U.S. Navy tape-measure method and Jackson-Pollock skinfold equations.
- TDEE — total daily energy expenditure via Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict (revised), or Katch-McArdle with ACSM activity multipliers.
- One-Rep Max — estimated 1RM from reps-to-failure using Epley, Brzycki, Wathan, and Mayhew formulas.
